The LO welcomes famed guest conductor JoAnn Falletta for a program that is sure to captivate. The concert begins with one of Richard Strauss’s most delightfully uplifting tone poems based on the legendary medieval German trickster, Till Eulenspeigel. For The Red Violin fans, we have the Clarinet Concerto of that film’s composer, John Corigliano, performed by our very own orchestra superstar, principal clarinetist Andrea Levine. The second half of our program is all about the French fascination with Spain in the early 20th century. Debussy’s Ibéria perfectly captures the magical flavor of the Iberian Peninsula as only he can. And our grand Spanish-themed finale? Always a crowd-pleaser: the sensuous Bolero by Maurice Ravel.
